Abstract The Tile PreProcessor (TilePPr) is the core element of Calorimeter (TileCal) off-detector electronics for High-luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). TilePPr comprises FPGA-based boards to operate and read out TileCal on-detector electronics. Computer on Module (TileCoM) mezzanine embedded within carry three main functionalities. These include remote configuration FPGAs, interface with ATLAS Trigger Data Acquisition (TDAQ) system, interfacing Detector Control System (DCS) by providing monitoring data. TileCoM a 10-layer board Zynq UltraScale+ ZU2CG processing data, components integrate power supply be connected Advanced Telecommunication Computing Architecture carrier. A CentOS Linux deployed implement required functionalities HL-LHC. In this paper we present hardware firmware developments system in terms programming, TDAQ DCS system.

We report on the study of the eeect of the Tile calorimeter thickness in the ATLAS Barrel calorimeter performance. The reduction of the Tile Calorimeter depth by 20 cm would have severe consequences on the hadron calorimeter performance and would increase the punchtrough probability in the muon chambers placed behind the calorimeter. Cost savings are also analysed.
